What is Internet Doxxing?

Have you heard of internet doxxing before? It is “the practice of sharing a person’s sensitive information, such as a physical or email address or phone number,” and often happens to someone in the spotlight due to their profession or current events.

Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, this has become a serious problem for healthcare workers caught in the crossfire of debated pandemic response and widespread misinformation. In response to them risking their lives serving their communities, they “have had their property vandalized and have received death threats and harassing phone calls after their personal information was posted online.” On May 18, Colorado made this illegal.
